Inktober Daily Drawing Challenge 2016

octopus #inktober2016

This year, for the first time, I decided to take part in the world-famous drawing challenge – Inktober.

Inktober has been created in 2009 by an illustrator and author of several graphic novels and books for kids – Jake Parker. He wanted to get better at inking, so he set up a challenge – to make one ink drawing a day for the whole month of October. Seven years later it has become a worldwide phenomenon with millions of ink drawings created by thousands of artists. All you need to do is to post your drawing on social media channels using #inktober and #inktober2016 (the date changes every year, of course).

As you can see while browsing all the #inktober posts, the amount of talent is incredible, overwhelming and even intimidating. I wouldn’t have a chance to compete with all these manga-like stuff (which, luckily, I never liked but still have to admire the amazing skillset needed to create such drawings), so I decided to take a different approach and create drawings which are more conceptual than arty (with one exception – featured above).

You can visit my social media channels to see a selection of images I came up with.
