As a graphic designer, especially a poster designer, I lean towards conceptual illustration. Coming up with an idea and executing it in a simple, minimalistic way is a highly creative and sometimes tiring process – that’s why, after hours, I like to work on realistic drawings of animals or, quite recently, trees. Copying nature is for me a very soothing and relaxing activity.
From 21st of April till the end of May 2018, some of my Marlay Park trees’ drawings will be on display in Dublin’s Marlay Park, in Laurelmere Cottage which is a head office of Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland –if you’re around 21st or 28th of April, pop over to sip a coffee together – I’ll be there from 10am to 1pm.
A girl is a girl is a girl… – my exhibition of drawings inspired by Kamila Dydyna’s short film “Testimony”.
I was working with Kamila Dydyna on the poster for her short film “Testimony” addressing topics of
domestic violence and alcoholism seen through the eyes of a child who’s been brought to a court in order
to testify against her father.
Kamila had a good idea to use a drawing – this would link well with the documentation technique used in courts:
This first drawing I made inspired me to make a whole series of them (click here to see some) and now I’d like to present them to the public.
Opening of the exhibition will take place the 5th of September 2015 at 7pm in POSK, 20 Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin 2.
The exhibition will continue till 30th September 2015, open weekends only from 5 to 7pm.
I’m happy to announce that a very talented and creative jazz / electronic singer & composer – Dorota Konczewska – will play for us at the exhibition’s opening.
You can read here the interview I gave in relation to this event (in Polish).
