This year, I had the pleasure to work on wildlife illustrations for a beautiful diary published in my native Poland.
The detailed and realistic artwork portrays some iconic for Poland birds – stark, white eagle, great spotted woodpecker, hoopoe, bullfinch, kingfisher, robin, great tit, peregrine falcon, and tawny owl.
The cover features a drawing of a kingfisher, with its bright blue feathers shining against the page as it perched on a branch over a clear stream.
The heron sits quietly on the side, with its piercing gaze fixed on something in the distance.
There is also a bullfinch, with its soft pink breast and black-and-white head against the blue cloudy sky.
Many pages of the diary are adorned with a different drawing. One page features a great spotted woodpecker, its black and white feathers crisp and clear against the greenery of a forest. Another shows a hoopoe, its distinctive crest and colourful plumage captured perfectly.
This diary, available in Polish bookstores and on their websites, could be a treasure for any nature lover, and a wonderful way to record one's thoughts and experiences in the great outdoors.
I have some of these lovely birds available as prints and original drawings in my shop here. Have a look and surprise your bird-lover friends with an arty gift :)
